Durham’s Intergenerational Network came into being in
2007 to bring together people, generations, groups and organisations
together in interests and activities that can offer benefits
to everyone.
The Network addresses Government priorities:
Promoting:
§ Active communities
§ Social inclusion
§ Equality
§ Active citizenship
§ Neighbourhood regeneration
§ Increasing ‘social capital’
And does this through:
§ Challenging stereotypes, generational divides and ageism
§ Creating positive exchanges of skills and experiences
based on mutual respect
§ Promoting positive images of all age groups
§ Promoting stronger communities
§ Including everyone
§ Promoting emotional & mental well-being and good
physical health
§ Reducing isolation and generational divides
§ Promoting a society for all generations
§ Building relationships between people and within the
community
